The Micro Seal acetabular component is superior to similar components due to the following:
it attains rigid initial fixation due to plasma spray.
it seals the interface between the shell and liner to protect the acetabular bone stock from joint fluid and wear debris.
Screws are often necessary to stabilize the metal shell, but can conduct joint fluid and debris into bone stock and cause late bone loss and failure of an implant. The Micro-Seal acetabular component solves this dilemma.
A complete seal is necessary to help prevent migration of joint fluid and wear debris into the acetabulum, and subsequent osteolysis. The Micro-Seal addresses this issue by creating a barrier to debris migration with highly congruent, tightly sealing interfaces.
